Postkarte Gruss aus Landau a Isar April 14, 1940 Town View
This vintage postcard dated 14th April 1940 features the Bavarian town of Landau a Isar on it’s backside. Landua a Isar lies on the bank or Isar river. Landau a Isar like any Bavarian town of 1940s was a place full of natural beauty as Bavaria is still known as one of the most beautiful provinces of Germany.
Landau a Isar can trace it’s history all the way back to the 13th century and is a manufacturing centre with several large companies present. It also houses several 18th century churches and other buildings which are an excellent example of medieval architecture.
This is an ideal postcard for a postcard collector as it depicts a bygone era. It’s one of the few artifacts which you can find depicting life in Nazi Germany as the postcard was produced in 1940s when German forces were practically invincible and have already occupied several countries in Europe. Although, the image depicted on this postcard gives a perception of peaceful life in a small Bavarian town as there is not even a hint about Second World War.
