Michigan Mackinac Island Chippea Hotel Tour Carriage Horses
This vintage postcard depicts a horse carriage at Mackinac Island. It shows Chippewa Hotel in the background and is one of the few postcards which honor this island. Mackinac Island is located in Lake Huron in the US state of Michigan.
This whole island is listed as a National Historic Landmark as it played an important role in the history being inhabited by Native American tribes, was also an important commercial center of the Great Lakes Fur Trade and was also a site of several battles during American War of Independence and War of 1812.
It’s one of the few places in the world where motor vehicles are banned completely. All motorized vehicles with the exception of snowmobiles have been prohibited on this island since 1898. Due to these unique aspects and history Mackinac Island attracts thousands of tourists every year and is one of the most important tourist attractions in the Great Lakes region.
